Why Use a REALTOR®?
Not every real estate salesperson or broker is a REALTOR®. That term and the familiar Block “R” logo are trademarked by the Canadian Real Estate Association in association with the National Association of REALTORS® in the United States.
CREA owns the MLS® trademark also. Both trademarked logos can only be used in Canada by members of the Canadian Real Estate Association who accept and respect a strict Code of Ethics.
The MLS® database is operated in Ontario by real estate boards belonging to the Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA). The majority of resale homes are sold through the MLS® Systems.
Just a few of the Services your Board dues provide you!
We consider each Member an important link in the ongoing commitment OMDREB has made to inform the public of the vital role REALTORS® play in the Real Estate transaction.
We ask that when you join the Board you make a commitment as a Member of this Board to stay informed and up-to-date on news and events that are happening at your Board office.
MLS® (Multiple Listing Service®)
OMDREB’s MLS® System is Tarasoft Matrix®, a web-based Multiple Listing Service (MLS®) platform, built entirely on Microsoft’s .NET technology.
Matrix key features: You can access MLS® data from any computer connected to the internet - and there is no additional software to download or install. Tarasoft Matrix® is 100% compatible with all operating systems and web browsers.
The performance of Matrix is outstanding, averaging under a second per search. In addition, OMDREB has a unique data exchange with the Toronto Real Estate Board which allows Matrix to display all TREB MLS® information for all the ‘W’ areas encompassing Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills and other communities.
This reciprocal agreement enables all OMDREB MLS® data to be displayed on the TREB Stratus System.

Public Relations
Through a number of communication vehicles, OMDREB works to convey the value of using a local REALTOR®. Advertising, news releases, interviews, brochures, special events, community involvement and fundraising are utilized to meet this goal.
Professionalism
REALTORS® through their membership are recognized within the community as having a high degree of professionalism.
Communication
The President of the Board and Executive Officer abide by an open door policy for all Members who would like the opportunity to express their concerns regarding the matters of the Board.
We also have a Managing Broker’s Council and each year the Chair of the Council has a seat on the Board of Directors. Feedback from Broker Council Members provides perspective and insight on aspects of the Board’s operations that have particular relevance for Brokerage members.
Other means of communication
include a monthly newsletter to members, postings on the front page of the MLS® System. Also information that is important
to your business is sent either directly to you or through your Brokerage, depending
on circumstances.
Whenever possible, communications will be handled electronically.
For many of us the most important membership is the one to our professional organization. This is where we stay connected with our peers and keep up with the ever changing environment.
