Information on OMDREB scholarship available, submissions welcome

  • April 3, 2017

OAKVILLE, ON, APRIL 3, 2017 – The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board is happy to announce that submissions for the annual Scholarship program are now being accepted.

OMDREB has made the scholarship available to Oakville and Milton graduating high school students for more than 20 years. Students submit a written or video essay on topics, which pertain to shelter-based or local community initiatives. The scholarship is a fantastic way for local-area students to learn about the charities, and to exercise their writing and critical thinking skills.

“We are continually impressed by the quality of the submissions we’ve received over the years,” says Marta Sponder, OMDREB’s Executive Officer. “We are confident that we will see another round of excellent work.”

These initiatives relate to the charity of choice for the acting President of OMDREB’s Board of Directors. This year’s President, Dennis Horton, has chosen to support Food4Kids and Halton Food For Thought. Both organizations exist so students have access to healthy food throughout the week and on weekends that may not otherwise be available to them.

“Children are our future and we need to take care of them,” Horton said at OMDREB’s Annual General Meeting in December. “I’m excited to work with [these organizations] so we can continue seeing students achieve success.”

All applications must be submitted/received by 4:30 p.m. on May 8, 2017. Click here to download the form.
